Where to Buy Kerosene Locally to Start And Grow Your Kerosene Business Fast

I remember last time I posted the preview article on "Kerosene Business And Cyber Café Business: Which Is More Lucrative?" In this blog. This is long time.

So if you do not read it before, please notice it for more information by clicking this to read which business it is more profitable.

First of all, let’s make a case study what a Nigerian woman shared her testimony in the SUN newspaper I read a long ago.

This woman, Olufunmilayo Olaupo, who graduated as Chemistry started the kerosene retail business with 500 litres because she still did not find a good job she looked for.

She wanted to start 5,000 litres of kerosene in her business.

But as for her financial limits, she decided to start to buy her first consignment (5000 litres) as her sisters assisted her by making additional cash.

Her cousin who worked at NNPC, Ejibo depot introduced her to the kerosene business because he learned that she did not find a job she looked for.

With his financial assistance, she was able to get a surface tanker for her business.

From there, she was able to gradually grow from 5000 litres to 10,000 litres selling profitably in the riotous and tough neighborhood at Mile 12, Lagos, Nigeria and from 10,000 litres to 33,000 litres on a regular basis.

With this, she felt so comfortable because the profit margin was so good and she said she did not need a paid job.

Even if she was offered a best paid job, she would not give up her kerosene business because of good turnover daily.

With this, she had an opportunity to move to put another 10,000 litres surface tanker in another location as a branch.

Her husband who still did not find a job after graduating was also encouraged to join her business. It is a good example you should apply.

According to Damilola Ibironke I read in the Success Digest Extra newspaper last time, kerosene storage and sales business is one of the easiest and cheapest oil and gas business any person whether male or female, the deaf or hearers, can invest in.

Remember this is my paraphrase. Kerosene business is a very lucrative business, but it is as well very volatile.

So you have to constantly watch the market. Some people can make money from N30 or N40 on a litre of kerosene.

Sometimes, when you get kerosene from the depot at N130, you sell it at a retail of about N200 or N250.

If there is no scarcity, you can make money between N10 and N35 per litre on kerosene daily. Therefore, kerosene is highly lucrative if done properly.

The following steps I should like to offer how you can grow your kerosene business quickly are as here:

Step 1: Start with whatever you have.

Step 2: If you don’t have money enough to buy a surface tanker drums, buy plastic kegs.

But the trick to grow your kerosene business fast is to start with a few plastic kegs, to see how well your patronage is before you buy either a drum or a surface tanker for the purpose of more litres of kerosene.

Step 3: Buy funnels, jerry-cans, hose, etc.

Step 4: Look to choose where there is dense population in good-home environment, to set up a business there in front of passserbys on the road or in the street.

Step 5: Go get cheap kerosene from NUPENG at Mushim, Lagos-Ibadan express if you are in Nigeria. Or ask people where where you can get cheap kerosene.

Step 6: Tell them how many litres you want to buy. I offer you to start 500 or 1000 litres, but you decide what litres you want to.

Step 7: Then sell people at affordable price.

Don’t sell at hiking price if you want fast profit margin daily, or if you want your business to grow fast daily.

Step 8: Remember about a jerry-can you should measure carefully because the measurement of jerry-can is not right even you look it is right.

For example, the 20 litre jerry can be actually about 25 litres when you fill to the brim and the 10 litre jerry can be actually 12.5 litre.

So you have been so careful about the jerry can. It can be applied same to all sizes.

Remember about the transport cost of kerosene for your destination you need to add a charge on each litre you sell so that you can avoid losing your profit.

Step 9: Replace daily what you sell till your business grows strongly.

Remember only record each time you sell and buy because it will help you to compare what you spend and sell.

If your profit you sell is higher than what you spend, it show it is good, but if your profit you sell is less than what you spend, it shows how poor you control or you may mistake.

With sale record transaction daily, your kerosene business will grow fast.

It will help you to monitor between the profit margin and lose in your balance.

how much will it cost to buy and transport 33000 liters of kerosene from Lagos to Kano?

    1. From Lagos to Kano, I dont know how much it costs you to buy and transport. Just ask NNPC marketers about the cost of transport from Lagos to Kano. Remember you may not profit much from kerosine business because of cost transport unless you focus as a major kerosine depot distributor.

How do i become a kerosene depot distributor? What are d reguirements.

  3. Hi, you can become a kerosine depot distributor through NNPC partnership. They will welcome any body any where who interest in business partnership. They dont require you something. But if you want to become a major distributor like big company like Total, Oando, etc for example, they require you to register as CAC and other thing. They require you to buy a land if you buy more than 33000. i want to stop because of time. thanks

    1. Good. But I am sorry that i am not able to link sincere marketers to you because I live in Ibadan. All I can do to offer you is to meet representatives of independent marketers or independent marketers in Lagos. Or You can look for NUPENG drivers that do for independent marketers. Thanks.

Thank you Mr. Joseph for enlightening us on this topic. I have actually got a place with 5000 tank but my challenge is how to buy from the depot. I have head many stories which says that I will pay the same transportation cost for my 5000 as most trucks in the deport is of 11000 to 15000 capacity. Could you please help me on the process, or direct me to someone if you have. I am in Lagos.

    1. Thank you for comment. I think I may pick someone' phone number up whom I read in the SDE newspaper some years ago back to connect you by giving you later when I have time. all you do is to tell them you want to buy from the depot. Remember the big truck driver may not access unless you have a group that want to be a kerosine marketer so that your transport cost can be reduced.

Or you can look where the small truck driver with NUPENG often provide small kerosine-retailing marketers and then meet them, explaining them where you can get kerosine from the depot. And they will help you out.Thank you.

Good day My Olysanya, pls I don't have much, I jus want to start with 4drums in my local Area at Ikorodu, Do I need to go to NNPC or how can I go about it?

    1. Dear Titilayo,

Please dont say I dont have much. It is negative. Whatever you have start with it and it work. it is good that you can start with 4 drums in your local area. it is enough till your profit is improved well.
Go there and know what they require this or that before you decide.

But dont pay somebody else for the product without collecting receipt from them in personality. Don't go home, hoping them to come to your place themselves with load of kerosine. You must go with them there where you operate there. thanks.

    Joseph dear

I am still waiting for the phone no. I tried to buy from some other major sellers in the area where I have my tank, and for 1 week now after payment I have not seen the product. I was even told it added 1 naira after I have payment which I agree to pay but Is still have not seen the product.

I sincerely need a good supplier. Perhaps if not for my tank which is just 5000L, I will have been going to the depot myself. But the challenge is that most trucks that transport the product from the depot are usually of between 11000 to 15000 capacity.

Please I will need your help for a good and reliable contact that will supply me product without problem.

    Thank you.

    1. Are you sure you had not seen the product when you paid into major sellers? I am sorry. But I Advise you not to pay for the product without knowing where they operate there. it is dangerous.

please give me your primary address so that I send you addresses where you can meet somebody in personality.

I warn you again never send money to somebody else for the product and hope them to come to your place themselves. you must go there with money yourself and come with a small truck driver with load of kerosine yourself.

People in Lagos are dangerous. Be careful yourself. The truth is that kerosine-retailing marketers do not want to tell me where they get kerosine cheap some where for the fear of losing kerosine customers to me as i tried to ask them some where.
That is why I picked addresses where I read in the SDE newspaper. Thanks.

    1. Thank you for your comment. My advice is that you should look the price trends so that you may not lose profit. The best thing you can make money from from the price trends is to buy more volumes at low price. the second is that you find a supplier ensure that he is reliable or trustworthy.

I think that the necessary procedure may not be necessary since you go into kero business as a retailer. But for a tank, you need to paint blue on it.
The third is that for a jerry cans, you should be careful the way you measure since its size is not right. Please read it above the title again.
      thanks.

Good day & God bless u immensely for ur work. Would like to start with Jerry cans to test the market. Since i stay in Lagos, Mushin NNPC might be a good place to strt. Pls what's the minimum quantity I can buy?

      Delete
    3. Thanks for appreciation. you decide how many quantities you want to buy for business.

If you find you are well-patronage, then you buy more quantities.

One of the secrets you can profit daily is to sell more volumes of kerosine at low price compared to the public marketing price.

No, I do not have suppliers' addresses you look for. I try it some times but I still do not find it. what you can do is to meet kerosine suppliers at Muslm-Lagos. But be careful, you know what Lagosins are? Please read readers' comments above there.
in Ibadan where I live, i see there are among kerosine suppliers from filling stations there, but i am not related to them well. I am afraid whether they are honest. Thank you for reading.

    1. Bukky, dont leave your job. You can do it on part-time basis. It is good. To succeed in kerosene business start with 1000 ltrs tank and test to see if your business is hot. and you will lose customers to big players if filling oil station has kerosene near you any where within location at cheap price.
